A dedicated World of Warcraft player who journeyed as the Warrior could not have been pleased when the executives at Blizzard came to the decision of nerfing some of the warrior’s abilities. For those of you who don’t know, “nerf” is the term used when Blizzard decides to eliminate a special set of skills or abilities that are believed to be too strong and gives these players an unfair edge over players of other classes. This was exactly the action that Blizzard took when Warriors were owning every other class in PvP battles in the Wrath of the Lich King. As you may have guessed, this did not sit well with just about every player of the Warrior class.
If you play as the Warrior, there is no longer any need for worry, as Blizzard has decided to return these abilities to the Warrior in the latest expansion, Cataclysm. To sweeten the deal even more for players, Warriors now come with some pretty rad new abilities that can be gained with the talent tree.
Warriors will continue to have the Arms as their top spec, as this gives them the ability to utilize Mortal Strike, which has been touted as the most powerful wound strike of all classes. The amount of damage can be increased even further when this attack is supplemented with gushing wound, which stacks if the inflicted victim moves.
For Cataclysm, the Warriors will have some juicy new skills. One is the Colossus Smash which can penetrate the armor of enemies for six seconds. This will make the warrior dangerous at close range for any class. Warriors will also have the new Heroic Leap ability which enables them to jump into the fray from long distance, and also comes with a cool down of its own.
Warriors are such a popular choice among players because they just get in the enemy’s face and deal massive damage with every attack. Blizzard have tweaked things up a bit so that arms will be the only spec to be build for PvP. Warriors have some additional talents as well that are worth exploring. One of these is the Lambs of Slaughter, which enters the equation after Mortal Strike and dishes out extra damage. How much additional damage will depend on your points for that talent.
If you play as the Warrior, pray that Blizzard will not butt in and nerf these new abilites as they did in Lich King. Assuming that Blizzard does nothing and let these abilities remain with the Warrior in Cataclysm, they will dominate in PvP combat and remain at the top of the chain for damage, which is what they have always been noted for.
